Frequently Asked Questions
How do I merge multiple PDF files?
Open ScribePDF, select Merge PDFs from the sidebar, then drag your PDF files into the window or click Add Files. Arrange them in the order you want, then click Merge. You'll be asked where to save the result.
What's included in the free version?
The free tier includes core tools: Extract, Merge, Split, Compress, Page Grid, and Find in PDF. Pro tools are marked with a PRO badge in the sidebar and require an upgrade.
How do I upgrade to Pro?
Click any Pro-badged tool in the sidebar, or choose Upgrade to Pro from the menu. Three options are available: Annual ($29.99/yr), One-Time ($49.99), and Lifetime ($79.99).
Can I restore a previous purchase?
Yes — open ScribePDF, go to Upgrade to Pro, and tap Restore Purchases at the bottom of the sheet. Your purchase will be restored using your Apple ID.
How does OCR work?
ScribePDF uses Apple's Vision framework to recognise text in scanned PDFs entirely on-device — no data is sent to any server. Select OCR from the sidebar, choose your PDF, and click Make Searchable.
Where does ScribePDF save output files?
Every tool shows a Save panel before writing any file, so you always choose where output goes. No files are written without your explicit approval.
Does ScribePDF upload my PDFs anywhere?
No. All processing happens entirely on your Mac using Apple's built-in frameworks. Your documents never leave your device.
The app isn't responding / crashed — what should I do?
Force-quit ScribePDF (⌘ Option Esc → select ScribePDF → Force Quit), then relaunch. If the problem persists, please email us with a description of what you were doing and we'll investigate.
Which macOS versions are supported?
ScribePDF requires macOS 13 Ventura or later and runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
